- Drive the real cancel-skip path: a connection conflict makes
`disconnected` early-return on a link mismatch, leaving the fetch
uncancelled
- Combined with an undelivered fetch result, the `active[rid]` entry is
orphaned and the repo can no longer be fetched from any node
- Confirm delivering the missing result clears the entry and unblocks
the queued fetch, showing what the fix must guarantee
When a connection drops and the node attempts to reconnect within the
same second, the `last_attempt` timestamp written to the database is
identitcal to the `last_success` timestamp due to the Unix time (seconds)
precision loss.
The `maintain_connections` logic filters eligible peers using the
condition `last_success >= last_attempt`. Because the truncated
timestamps are equal, this evaluates to true, causing the node to
bypass the `CONNECTION_RETRY_DELTA` backoff.
If the OS instantly rejects the dial attempt (e.g. `EHOSTUNREACH`),
the node synchronously queues another connection attempt. This traps
the reactor in an infinite `while` loop.
Changing the condition to `last_success > last_attempt` ensures that a
failed attempt in the same second correctly evaluates to false, forcing
the node to respect the backoff timer and breaking the loop.
Add custom check for ellipses "...", asking for replacement of "…".
Git ranges and the CLI wildcard matches are ignored.
This change includes fixes to all sites that did not pass the check.
The invalid timestamp error will only tell the timestamp of the
offending node's message.
Currently, there are issues where that error is occurring but the
timestamp seems legitimate. This patch adds the running node's
timestamp to help debug the issue.
With `connect: std::collections::HashSet`, we suffer unpredictable reordering
of values in our test cases.
Use `connect: indexmap::IndexSet` instead, which preserves insertion
order for iteration.
Instead of passing the signer as an argument to many methods on `Store`,
scope the `Store` itself to a signer.
This further allows to differentiate two different access modes on the
store in `radicle::cob::store::access`: `WriteAs` (which requires signer)
and `ReadOnly` (which does not require a signer).
The caches for issues and patches in `radicle::cob::{issue,patch}::Cache`
are concretised by removing the first type parameter, since it was
specific to issues and patches anyway. This was done in this commit as
it touches very similar usage sites.
Make `Device` less prominent, and instead lean more heavily towards
traits from the `signature` crate, such as `Keypair` and `Verifier`
in addition to `Signer`. Trait bounds regarding `Signer` could be
simplified, but this is left for the future.
In `radicle-cli`, the function `term::cob::patches_mut`, which generates
errors with a hint is used instead of the lower-level `Profile::patches_mut`.
Commands `rad issue cache` and `rad patch cache` now construct a
writeable cache on top of a read-only store.
Many knock-on changes are handled as well, to arrive at a clean state.
Teach the `rad sync` and `rad clone` commands to accept the
`--signed-refs-feature-level` option. This option configures that
fetch to use the minimum feature level provided when fetching from
other nodes. This overrides the value of
`node.fetch.signedReferences.featureLevel.minimum`, and should only be
used in scenarios where it is necessary to downgrade the security of a
fetch for backwards compatibility.
To achieve this, the `Handle::fetch` method introduces an optional
parameter for threading through the `FeatureLevel`.
In order to allow automatic migration to the feature level 'parent',
introduce a way to force writing signed references, even if the
user-controlled refs are unchanged.
To detect the special case of a Signed References history with a single
and root commit (which would otherwise be detected as feature level
'parent', even though the `refs/rad/sigrefs-parent` ref cannot be
written), keep information about the parent commit in `SignedRefs`.
The output of `rad inspect --sigrefs` is changed to match the more
strict interpretation of the feature level for histories with a single
and root commit.
Refactors every command that uses a `Sender` to use a `Responder`
instead. There is an exception for `QueryState` since its usage
differs slightly to the other cases.
To make the usage more ergonomic, constructors for the variants that
require a `Responder` are added.
Wire up the new `FetcherService`. This reduces the `Service` fetch
methods down to:
- `fetch`
- `fetched`
- `dequeue_fetches`
- `fetch_refs_at`
This simplifies the code by off-loading the logic to the `fetcher`
family of types, rather than handling the intricacies in the `Service`
itself.
The `Service` now just performs the necessary I/O based on the
returned events from the `fetcher`.
This also removes the fetching state from the node sessions. This
follows the single responsibility, and sessions now only care about
their connectivity.
Breaking changes:
- The `Connected` state of a peer no longer contains fetching
information, which was being returned as part of the JSON payload
result.
- The `rad debug` information for ongoing fetches contained the number
listeners awaiting for results, this was removed.
Make `git2` an *optional* dependency of `radicle-cob`, and refactor
`radicle` to depend on crates that in turn do not depend on `git2`
*non-optionally*
The main offending dependency of `radicle-cob` is `radicle-git-ext`
from the `radicle-git` workspace in repository
(rad:z6cFWeWpnZNHh9rUW8phgA3b5yGt) which *non-optionally* depends on
`git2`.
So, to achieve removal of this dependency:
1. The crate is refactored to depend on the new crates
`radicle-git-ref-format` `radicle-git-metadata`, and
`radicle-oid` introduced in the previous commits, instead of
`radicle-git-ext`.
2. Some code from the `radicle-git-ext` crate in the `radicle-git`
workspace in repository (rad:z6cFWeWpnZNHh9rUW8phgA3b5yGt) is
copied. See `crates/radicle-cob/src/backend/git/commit.rs`.
This cascades to `radicle` and its dependents.
Firstly, the there is an
`impl Deref<Target=git2::Oid> for radicle_git_ext::Oid`. This made
it very convenient to just deref to obtain the wrapped `git2::Oid`,
so there are many expressions of the shape `*oid` in `radicle` and
its dependents. However `radicle-oid` does not provide
`impl Deref<Target=git2::Oid> for radicle_oid::Oid`, as notably,
`Target` is an associated type, and not a type parameter, so an
implementation of `Deref` would tie the new `Oid` too tightly to a
particular implementation.
Instead, work with `impl From<radicle_oid::Oid> for git2::Oid`
(which can be enabled using the feature flag `radicle-oid/git2`).
This explains the changes from `*oid` to `oid.into()` at every
transition to "`git2` land".
Secondly, `radicle` and its dependents are refactored to also depend
on `radicle-git-ref-format` and (much less prominently)
`radicle-git-metadata` instead of `radicle-git-ext`
This is to avoid pulling in `git2` via these dependencies.
Thirdly, as the re-exports in `crates/radicle/src/git.rs` change,
they are at the same time also cleaned up. Notably, the types from
`radicle-git-ref-format` are re-exported under `fmt` only, not "twice".
While overall this obviously is very much a breaking change, these
changes should mostly amount to changing from `Deref` to `Into`, i.e.,
`*oid` → `oid.into()` and rewriting imports for `radicle::fmt`.
This is indicated by the mostly mechanical nature of the changes to
`crates/radicle-{cli,node,remote-helper}`.
Whenever the node fetches new updates, it checks if canonical references can be
updated. The node has learned how to return these results and emit them as node
events. This is a breaking change since it adds a new variant the `Event` type,
which is not forwards-compatible.
This patch adds the `cob::common::Title` struct, this allows instead of
using `std::str::String` or generics and traits for it, to define more
precisely what a title should be.
It trims the provided string and makes sure it contains no carriage
return or new line characters.
Where a `std::str::String` makes more sense so it's easier to mutate it,
we keep the code as is.
